|The Village of Colon, located in the eastern section of St. Joseph County, has an
immediate opening for a part time police officer. Applicants must be certified or
certifiable by MCOLES at the time of hire and should be comfortable working in a rural,
small town setting and problem solving / community oriented policing. Officers are
expected to patrol by foot, bike and in a motor vehicle and usually patrol alone.
Officers are expected to work nights, weekends and holidays, normally working a 10
hour shift. This position includes 20 hours a week of scheduled work after initial FTO
and must be available for special events, cover vacation and sick time. In the past the
part-time officer was working 32 hours per week. Starting pay is $13.00 per hour, all
